This post is just a brief jotting of my Saturday night... who cares about spelling!
The Scene: Alderwood Mall
Cast: Duane and Raine
We were at the mall picking up a present for a birthday party we were attending that night (a friend of mine)
after getting the present then him stopping to find a watch he wanted
we proceeded out to my car
We got into my car and started it... but no.. as fate would have it, my car would not start.
It tried to turn over.. but just would not catch...
I stopped the security vehicle that was driving around and asked them if they could give us a jump, as I made the assumption it was the battery since its 5 years old.
They couldn't jump the car but offered to drive us around the mall to Sears to get a battery.
Upon arriving at Sears, and dickering around with the pimple faced, 16 year old, xmas wage earning kid, we ended up getting one of them to walk over with a batter to jump us and get us to the shop to put the battery in
We walked back to my car and I got in to pop the hood, when I decided to try the car once more.. vrrrroooom... started right up. fudge.
SO.. offered the guy a ride back to Sears but he said he'd rather walk as he 'need the exercise'
It was around 9:20 by this time and the birthday part downtown at Jillians started at 9.. so Duane suggested we head back to his place drop my car off and deal with it in the AM and he'd drive.
Part 2
We got back to His house, freshened up, and hit the road in his ride.
Got down to Jillians and made our appearance
All this time we had been meaning to grab a bite to eat so we ventured towards another place close by that had some happy hour specials.. half way there Duane suggested that we fast forward the evening and go join up with some of his friend that were attending a "model" party on the other side of town near Quest Field..
I couldn't go against that logic.
So, we headed over there with hopes of finding food at the supposed club where this party was.
We parked in the Quest field parking lot and met up with his friend Sean at FX and walked with them towards a club known as "Spotlight"
Spotlight has no visible signage and is only known by the tracking spotlight atop two story black building about 4 blocks away
We met a few other of Seans friends out in front of the building and were informed we had "VIP" status and to take a red ticket and head downstairs to where the real party was.
We headed downstairs and were greeted by the voices of two girls sticking their heads out of a little room yelling "coat check $5!"
Duane, thinking this was a great deal, fished $5 from his pocket and paid the young ladies while getting a little ticket in exchange for a nice black leather jacket.
We proceded to venture in the downstairs part of the club but discovered that we had to go back upstairs to the other part of the club if we wanted any adult beverages... we later found out that the downstairs part is 21 and under.. how that's the "real party" area I don't know.
We stayed around for about 3 hours, while feeling very non-thugish after seeing how everyone else was dressed
Duane made a comment about how we should have stayed and Jillians and I just silently nodded while giving him the "I told you so" look
not the type of dancing I'm in to nor is Duane I think.
We went back downstairs to the coat check area and was greeted by a darkend room, so Duane went in to get his coat. After a bit of looking he found it and put it on
He started to pat his jacket pockets and reached inside a few times.. then a look of "oh shit" crossed his face..
silently the words "where are my keys" fell from his mouth
He quickly turned around and walked back in to the room grouping around for the precious while trying to find something to illuminate his way
after a few mins he came back out and we went and spoke with the guy that originally sent us down the stairs... "Where are the girls that did the Coat Check when we got here?!"
"We didn't have a Coat Check tonight."
"What do you mean, there were two girls saying 'Coat Check, $5' when we came down the stairs"
"I never saw any girls in there, and its at your own risk anyways"
"*BLEEP*"
So, we went and found Sean and informed him as to the situation and he said that he would give us a ride home.. Duane said that would work as he had a spare set at home.
So we left the club after leaving Duane's personal information in the hopes that someone finds his keys and drove with Sean back to Kenmore.
Once back to the house Duane looked all over for his spare set then realized he has left it in the truck as he was tired of not having a spare set in there.
*sigh*
But, he eventually found the key fob so he could atleast get into the truck to get the spare set.
So, we clambered into my car, and crossed our fingers as I tried to start my car.. SUCCESS!
We drove back down to Quest field all the while grumbling about how untrustworthy people are in the world
We located his car, which Duane was very worried that someone would have taken the keys to steal it, and pulled in front
He got out and walked up pushing the fob button and was disappointed when he didn't hear the normal "bheep bheep" sound of it disarming
dead fob batteries
*BEEEP*!
So for the next 2.5 hours we drove all over downtown seattle looking for replacement batteries finally ending up in Renton at a 24hr Walgreens
He also got a box QTips while he were at it.
So we drove back to Qwest Field and after replacing the batteries with the new ones again pressed the button.. nothing... DAMN
something was messed up with the FOB
So, he suggested we go back to the house and pick up his insurance so he could call and get the free towing service information that he pays for and utilize it..
I looked at him and I guess he saw something in my eyes because he suggested that instead of driving more maybe he should just call the tow service that was listed on the sign next to his vehicle and see what they could do.
$70 later he had his spare set of keys in his hand and was ready to drive himself home.
Laying down to sleep I sleepily looked over at my clock and noticed it was only 4:30am...
*FADE TO BLACK*
